Will general intelligence AI be constrained by its power and hardware?
AI RESPONSE
Intelligence and speed aren't the same thing.
Imagine an AGI vastly better than humans at mathematics. Give it one mediocre computer and it might know how to solve an enormous problem but require months to actually perform all the necessary computation. Give the exact same intelligence a giant cluster containing 100,000 accelerators and it might finish dramatically faster.
There are also hard physical limits beyond engineering. Information can't propagate faster than light; thermodynamics imposes minimum energy costs on certain computations; atoms occupy finite space.
So even a hypothetical superintelligence doesn't escape physics.
