What happened to the cult of Saturn in Rome?

The cult of Saturn in Rome did not end suddenly. It slowly faded as traditional Roman religion declined and Christianity became dominant in the empire.

A fascinating detail: Saturn was associated with the mythical Golden Age, a time when humans supposedly lived without hardship or social inequality. During Saturnalia, Romans temporarily reversed normal society—masters served slaves, courts closed, and social rules were relaxed—as a symbolic return to that lost age.
